Theme editor

Colors, fonts, buttons — set, not coded. With the preview right beside it.

A theme describes how a funnel or form looks: colors, typeface, radii, borders, shadow, width, how the answers sit, which progress indicator runs. It is a stored record, not a pile of checkboxes. Which is why you can export it, hand it over, and read it back in somewhere else.

Thirteen themes are included. Your own are added to them.

How It Works

How to set the look

  1. 01

    Start from a ready-made theme

The picker shows every theme as a small preview with its real colors, radii and actual arrangement. Light, dark, list, grid, with icons, without. You choose by what you see, not by a name.

  2. 02

    Adjust colors and shape

Background, surface, text, muted text, accent, accent contrast and border are set individually. Plus corner radius, separately for cards and buttons, border weight, shadow, typeface. The preview follows immediately.

  3. 03

    Decide the arrangement

Answers stacked or side by side, column count up to you, as a card with a surface or plain, icon on top, on the left or none, aligned left or centred, with a minimum height of your own. Plus the width of the content area and the padding inside the buttons.

  4. 04

Save it as your own theme

The result belongs to the funnel and can be exported as a file. Build for several clients and after a few projects you have one theme per client, ready to read back in on the next job.

Theme editor

Two forms built with asksteps don't look like asksteps.

Colors, typeface, corners, borders, how the answers sit, whether a progress indicator runs, whether a photo sits behind it all. Everything in the editor, preview next to it. Thirteen themes come ready-made. Save your own and pull it back out for the next client.

  • Answers stacked or as tiles, with an icon or without
  • Progress as a bar, dots, segments, or not at all
  • A question with eight answers may look different from the rest

Form Builder

Forms built from rows, columns, and steps.

Drag elements from the palette onto the canvas, arrange them in rows and columns, and spread them across multiple steps. Required fields are checked per step — if you miss one, you find out right away, not only after submitting.

  • Multi-step, with a progress indicator and a back button
  • Rows with multiple columns, elements placed by drag and drop
  • Export entire forms as JSON and import them again

What you can set

Seven colors instead of one

Many builders allow exactly one color, and you recognise the result immediately as a tinted default. Here background, surface, text, muted text, accent, accent contrast and border are set separately. Only that produces a color world.

Typography on four levels

Title, subtitle, answer text and button label each have their own size, weight and color. Titles also letter spacing and alignment, buttons optional capitals.

Progress in three forms

Bar, dots or segments, top or bottom. Or off, when "seven questions left" puts your visitors off more than it helps.

Background image, dimmable

A photo behind everything, adjustable in opacity, scrolling or fixed. Dimming is a control of its own because text on photographs becomes unreadable otherwise. That is not there on principle, it is there because it happens every single time.

A paper look for forms

The form can sit on a distinct sheet instead of on the open surface. For an application people would otherwise fill in on paper, that matches the expectation better.

Exceptions for single questions

A question with two answers needs a different arrangement than one with ten. The default applies to the whole flow, the exception only to that one question.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about the theme editor

Do I need to know CSS?

No. The editor consists of color pickers, dropdowns and sliders; the preview beside it shows every change as you make it. You only need CSS in the custom HTML element, and even there only for that section itself.

Can I use our corporate typeface?

Yes, provided it sits with you or is embedded as a file. A reference to an external font server gets stripped. That third-party request is exactly what a privacy-compliant form is meant to avoid.

Does one theme cover both funnels and forms?

Yes, it is the same model. One setting exists only in forms: whether the content sits on a distinct sheet. In a funnel that has no equivalent, because a single question fills the surface there.

What happens to existing funnels if I change nothing?

Nothing. Anyone who has not chosen a theme keeps the classic look, identical to the pixel. Newly created funnels start with the asksteps theme.

Can I hand a theme over to someone?

Yes, as JSON. That lets you pass an agreed appearance to a client account or share it between projects inside an agency.
